New Executive Order Suspends All Vacation Rentals

By Siegfried Rivera

On account of the COVID-19 outbreak, Governor Ron DeSantis issued Executive Order 20-87 suspending the operation of all vacation rentals. All parties engaged in vacation rentals are prohibited from making any new reservations or bookings and shall not accept new guests for check-in during the duration of this order. The directive includes the rental of any house, condominium, cooperative, or dwelling unit that is also a transient public lodging establishment which is rented for a period of less than 30 days. The directive excludes long-term rentals. Any party that violates this order is subject to having their rental license revoked, or if attempting to violate the order through advertising or other means of solicitation, may be charged with a second-degree misdemeanor. This executive order expires on April 10th and may be extended by a subsequent order.
