Florida HOA Committees Explained for HOA Board Members

Stephanie Bowman

Homeowners’ association board members are now required to take four or eight hours of continuing education (depending on the number of parcels in their respective community) in addition to the state-approved board member certification course. This course is approved by the DBPR for 1-hour of continuing education credit for HOA board members.

This course provides Florida HOA board members and property managers with a comprehensive understanding of the types of committees authorized under Chapter 720, Florida Statutes, including their structure, authority, and responsibilities. The class also covers how committees should be appointed and governed, with a special focus on the fining committee, its legal requirements, and due process procedures.
