Legal Assistant – Litigation

Position Summary 

The Litigation Legal Assistant provides comprehensive administrative and case management support in all phases of litigation. This role is responsible for ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with court rules, firm policies, and client service standards.

The position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced legal environment.

Matter Intake & File Management 

  • Prepare engagement letters and see through to completion
  • Run and review conflict checks
  • Prepare new matter packages for opening
  • Enter and maintain all contacts
  • Maintain matters
  • Monitor Calendar Reminders and Deadlines
  • Assist with time entries and expenses as needed
  • Manage phone calls
  • Provide updates to clients as instructed by attorney

Document Preparation & Case Management 

  • Prepare shells for attorney, i.e. motions, notices, discovery, witness/exhibit lists, subpoenas
  • Organize ECF notices and court filings
  • Maintain Service Lists
  • Compile final documents for filing
  • Proofread, format, e-file and serve
  • Correct any e-filing rejections
  • Gather/label evidence
  • Maintain discovery logs and track pending discovery
  • Prepare binders for hearings, mediation, trial, etc.
  • Organize trial boxes/e-folders
  • Communicate professionally with Courts, Opposing Counsel and Clients
  • Draft correspondence to clients, Court, Opposing Counsel, etc.
  • Request documents as requested by attorney
  • Ensure readiness for trial

  • Client Meetings
  • Service of Process (Summons, Complaint(s), Subpoenas)
  • Coordinate Travel
  • Coordinate Courtroom technology with vendor and court
