Steven M. Siegfried, Stuart Sobel, Michael Kurzman Named to 2013 Top Rated Lawyers in Construction Law Listing

CORAL GABLES, Fla. (April, 2013) —- Attorneys Steven M. Siegfried, Stuart Sobel and Michael Kurzman, all shareholders in the Coral Gables-based law firm of Siegfried, Rivera, Hyman, Lerner, De La Torre, Mars & Sobel, have been named to the “2013 Top Rated Lawyers in Construction Law” listing by American Lawyer Media and Martindale-Hubbell. The listing, which will appear in the April 29 edition of the Daily Business Review, highlights attorneys who have achieved the AV Preeminent peer review rating, the highest rating in legal ability and ethical standards from Martindale-Hubbell.

Siegfried is the firm’s founding and managing partner and has focused on construction law in Florida since 1976. He has also served as an adjunct professor of construction law at the University of Miami since 1984. In addition to his board certification as a trial attorney, he is also board certified in construction law by The Florida Bar. Siegfried is also a founding Fellow of the American College of Construction Lawyers. He earned his undergraduate degree from Brooklyn College in 1971 and his law degree from American University, Washington College of Law in 1974.

A shareholder with the firm since 1995, Stuart Sobel is board certified in construction law by The Florida Bar. He is also certified as circuit civil mediator by the Florida Supreme Court and as a civil trial attorney by the National Board of Trial Advocacy. Sobel, like Siegfried, is a Fellow of the American College of Construction Lawyers, having completed a three year term sitting on its Board of Governors, and he is active as a neutral on the American Arbitration Association’s Large and Complex Case Panel for Construction. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in economics from Brown University in 1975 and his Juris Doctor, cum laude, from the University of Miami in 1978. He represents participants in construction of some of the largest projects in the world, including the new World Trade Center in New York and the Port Tunnel in Miami, Florida.

A shareholder with the firm since 2006, Michael Kurzman is also board certified in construction law by The Florida Bar. Kurzman has focused his practice primarily in the area of construction law since being admitted to the Florida Bar in 1989, and joined Siegfried Rivera in 2004. He has extensive experience in litigating construction cases in both federal and state courts. Kurzman earned his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Florida in 1986 and received his Juris Doctor, cum laude, from the University of Miami School of Law in 1989. He is also a member of the South Florida Associated General Contractors and the Associated Builders and Contractors.
