Primary Focus and Experience

Ms. Hurwitz is a shareholder and has been with the firm since 2006. She concentrates her practice in Construction Litigation. She works closely with clients to determine the contractual needs for each project, analyzing a number of factors such as cost, location and anticipated use of the project. Having a background in litigation, Ms. Hurwitz has extensive experience in addressing and avoiding issues that typically arise in the contract drafting and negotiation stages of construction projects. She drafts and negotiates complex construction, design, design-build and other construction-related agreements for a variety of clients, including but not limited to public entities, educational entities, private developers, low-income housing developers, homeowners, condominium associations and general contractors. Ms. Hurwitz’s experience includes international projects.

Recognition & Involvement

While in law school, Ms. Hurwitz served as the Executive Editor of the DePaul Business and Commercial Law Journal and earned the CALI award for the top grade in eight courses.

Ms. Hurwitz served as the vice-chair of the Dade County Bar Association Construction Law Committee from 2008-2009 and as chair from 2009-2010. She was recognized in 2017 as a Florida Legal Elite under the construction category. An advocate for education, Ms. Hurwitz has spoken on construction law topics at numerous seminars offered by organizations such as the Latin Builders Association and NBI.
