PRIMARY FOCUS & EXPERIENCE
Susan C. Odess joined the firm in 2014. She focuses her practice exclusively on assisting homeowners, commercial property owners, community associations, and businesses with insurance coverage disputes and insurance claims. Ms. Odess handles claims dealing with water damage, wind damage, fire damage, concrete overspray, hurricane damage, and other property damage claims throughout the country. Additionally, she assists clients with coverage analysis and coverage decisions, helping them from the negotiation stage of an insurance policy through the handling of complex insurance coverage litigation and arbitrations. She is also experienced in handling bad faith claims and complex commercial claims.
Ms. Odess has a vast understanding of the internal workings of insurance carriers, making her a strong advocate for her clients. She relentlessly pursues her clients’ claims against insurance carriers and is dedicated to obtaining favorable results and settlements to ensure they receive the compensation they need to recover from their loss. To date, she has collected millions of dollars for insureds for damage from wind, fire, water, theft, natural disasters, and construction damage.
Ms. Odess is also a licensed public adjuster and has over ten years of experience in the handling of first-party property insurance claims arising from hurricanes, flooding, fires, and other mass casualties. She is routinely published in matters regarding the insurance industry. She is an annual contributor to Florida Construction Law, a comprehensive textbook used to teach construction law at the University of Miami School of Law. Ms. Odess also speaks at various seminars and conferences throughout the country about insurance-related topics.
